Sempre pródiga em escândalos políticos, que por sinal ignoram matizes ideológicos. Senão vejamos o que diz a BBC sobre certo aliado de um presidente envolvido em nebuloso esquema de financiamento de campanha ( me ingrês maifrendi, pra justificar o nome da seção:
The Republican majority leader in the US House of Representatives Tom DeLay has been indicted with criminal conspiracy by a grand jury in Texas.
The charge relates to a campaign finance scheme in which two of Mr DeLay's associates also stand accused.
Mr DeLay, the second-highest ranking member of the house, said he would step down temporarily to answer the charges.
He is a key fundraiser for President George W Bush and is seen as wielding immense political influence.
Mr DeLay has been hugely influential in driving the Republican agenda in Congress, our correspondent says.
The charge also increases pressure on the Republican Party - its leader in the Senate, Bill Frist, is under investigation for selling stock in his family's hospital company just before the price fell, he says.
